You still here? Aight, let's get into Midnight and Tyme.
So just from reading the synopsis on the back, you know you in for a treat.
Tyme: Scorned ex-fiancée. Rightly so, when you find out your soon to be husband Malachi is cheating with his 'cousin'. Play cousin. Played in your face cousin. I can't imagine....
Midnight: Twin brother of Sir Cheater. (I love all the nickname, Tyme!) The more equipped twin as well, but we will get into that later.
The book starts with Tyme prepping for a wedding...not hers though.
See above GIF for context.
Midnight bails her out...literally.
Midnight and Tyme are not cordial, and the book gets into why. And while this is presented as an enemies to lovers trope, it's more than that. It's an 'I feel a tug in my heart but can't act on it because you are about to become my sister-in-law' trope.
Tyme is leery when Midnight tells her to pack a bag because 'he knows what she needs.' She thinks it's dick...and I mean it is dick, but not yet. He suggests that they post a story together to piss off his brother, because Malachi is a control freak and gets off on feeling like he has the upper hand. Tyme is stalking him and his now wife's honeymoon through a burner account, so I'd say he definitely has the upper hand.
The story is for Mal's eyes on though. Gotta love IG close friends.
Midnight and Tyme fly to attend a NYE party hosted by Midnight's cousin Nico. A blood cousin, because we need to know. The party is themed, and Tyme needs to be dressed for the occasion, so Midnight takes her shopping.
I love the banter between Midnight and Tyme. They argue while the shop and while they eat. They also genuinely enjoy each other's company, once they implement a truce to stop being assholes to one another until the weekend it over, that is. It's easy to see how they could become a couple.
Nico's party is a literal House Party based on the movies. I've only watched the first one. The others should've stayed in the vault.
They take more pics, but this time...the story is for all of Midnight's followers, and they look real cozy. The family group chat blows up. Ya'll know we love mess. Malachi is on his honeymoon but calling and texting both parties plus Nico. Boy, go be with your cousin-wife.
As we get closer to 12:00, Midnight has to talk to Tyme about what happens at 12:01. Yeah...it turns into a sex party. Tyme is pissed...but intrigued. It begins to explain various interactions throughout the night, and the bands they have on.
Nico provides toys, protections, lube. You name it, 12:01 got it. Tyme soon learns that feeling scorned and safe, opens up a world of pleasure. Realizing that you might just have voyeuristic and exhibitionist tendencies can be a jolt to the system.
After a bunch of back and forth and hemming and hawing, she decides to stay...and let's just say, Malachi had a right to be concerned.
Midnight turns her every which way but loose. Takes my girl through there and back a few times. So much so, they stay an extra day because they didn't get to do everything they wanted to.
The entire time they keep telling themselves this is just for the weekend. Be for real. They open up to each other emotionally, and we all know what that leads to. You can't dick a girl down and care about her emotional wellbeing and think she just gone walk away.
Well, she tried...he wouldn't let her though.
Once the weekend comes to an end, and the sex and drug induced haze wears off, it's back to life, back to reality. But you can't let your ex-fiancé stop you from finding your man...even if your man once shared a womb with him.
If you love a freaky ass book...and a 'you complete me' ending...check out 12:01!
