Through the Chaos

So I just finished a devotion called “Through the Chaos” it was only 10 days long but I started it on July 30th and literally just finished it this morning (October 9th)!

Why?

Like my pastor says, “I’m so glad you asked!”

It’s a simple response…CONSTANT CHAOS!

I was focused on the word from the devotion but constant instances of chaos continued to distract me. Pulling me down into what we would be the deepest depression episodes I had experienced in a while. This time was different though. I fought differently than ever before. This time, I fought my battle with a combination that it took years to create…I fought with the word, the strategies my therapist taught me, and a full on reset of rest!!!

I processed what I could change and control versus what I could not. I accepted the realities and most importantly, I told those who act as my support system what I was battling and instantly felt their prayers.

Let me be crystal clear, the circumstances that caused the spiral into depression did not change, but I DID…I AM changing! So my response to the triggers changed and literally as I sit here riding my stationary bike for the first time in almost year, I am clear that I am exactly where I am supposed to be in this space and time and I couldn’t be more grateful to God for it.

As I sat here cycling, I listened to my Kirk Franklin radio station on Pandora and here’s what played during the ride…

All while reading the following devotion…

At the end of the day I feel thankful for the word of God and all of the promises that it gives me for every circumstance.

Jesus was so good at helping His followers through difficult times. He gave them a great guarantee and reminder that no matter what happens that He had overcome the world. He also makes it clear to them that they will not avoid troubles just because they knew Him.

Quite the opposite, actually. He let them know that trouble was inevitable but that He ultimately would bring them through it all.

That is what we need to focus on today, my friends.

You may have found yourself in a place and time that has caused you to question everything. You may be facing losing something you hold dear or be wondering how life will ever seem normal again.

What you don’t have to question is the goodness or faithfulness of God.

He saw this all coming and He knows when it will end. He is not surprised at your current situation. He is ready to respond to your cries and comfort you like only He can.

Call upon Him and let Him guide you through the chaos.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank you for your Word. Thank you for giving us the guarantees we would need to make it through the troubles of this life. Please take my hand and walk with me through this season. I need you now more than ever. I lay this down at your feet. In your precious name, Amen.

“I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!””

‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

I will just say, if you know you know…because whew!!!

I am so grateful for my daughters and my sister circle! They have been my anchors during the storm!

And as I close out…here come the Clark Sisters with Blessed and Highly Favored!

Thank you Lord for your reminder of my position in you!!!
