Day 13 of Gratitude— My Strength

Happy Saturday! I bet y’all thought I was gonna forget…nope I was up and at it at 5:30 thinking! 🥴🤣 It’s day 13 of my 30 days of gratitude challenge and today I am grateful for my strength! I can’t lie, I was a little anxious thinking about my strength. As a black woman, I recognize that our strength and the discussion around it can be very triggering. We are so often viewed as being such strong pillars of strength that society forgets that we are humans too. We need help, we need relief, we need a space to be soft and gentle just as much as we need a space to be strong.

I am learning to honor my strength and the place that it was birthed from while also learning to lean into my softer spaces.

I am strong! I am strong physically, mentally, and spiritually! Yet, my strength is not my defining characteristic! It is simply an undertone of who I am.

I used to feel like I had to be strong or endure battles in order to be viewed as strong but now I know better. My strength doesn’t define me but the experiences that helped me refine my strength are an intricate part of my makeup. I am grateful for every battle, triumph, and victory that it took to shape me into who I am right now today.

I am extremely grateful to understand the delicate balance that is my strength/power and my gentle/prowess! I can be both so I am! I take Philippians 4:13 seriously, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! I am strong and I am grateful for my strength but that is not all that I am!

What are you grateful for?
