It’s International Women’s Day and y'all know I have no issue hyping up how Dope Women are yesterday, today, or any other day!
Women are at the height of my sphere of influence. I look to the women who are in my life for guidance around all issues. I am often share how grateful I am to have the women that I have in my life.
Today is about the importance of everyone not only valuing women in word, but also ensuring that our work is valued. The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is: “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.” This year’s campaign is represented by the #BreakTheBias hashtag and calls on people to work towards a world that is equitable, inclusive, and free from bias and discrimination so the playing field is levelled for women moving forward. “We have today the opportunity to put women and girls at the centre of our planning and action and to integrate gender perspectives into global and national laws and policies,” Sima Bahous, executive director of UN Women, said.
It is so much bigger for women than just a day to post on social media. Today is a day of introspection to review how each of us are working toward a world that is equitable, inclusive, and free from bias and discrimination providing a level playing field. We can start with EQUAL PAY!
So today, I hope that someone reminds you of how Dope you are not just in words but in allocation!
As a woman, raising Dope Black Women, I encouraged this day and every other to simply Go be DOPE! It is what we do with ease!
